Canon has just announced 6 brand new PowerShot A-series digital cameras today. The six models are spread out between the price range of $110 to $200, so there’s not a lot of room for differentiation and all the cameras are very similar. Let’s take a look at them now.
First off, we’ll sort through the common features of these 6 cameras; all the A-series have these features in common:

16 megapixel traditional CCD image sensors

Canon PowerShot ELPH 530 HS (AKA IXUS 510 HS)
Just like its sibling announced today, the newly unveiled Canon ELPH 530 HS (Also known as the IXUS 510 HS) is the WiFi and touchscreen equipped variant to the ELPH 520 HS that Canon announced at CES in January. Canon hasn’t been too active in releasing rugged cameras, with their first ever (and only) rugged digital camera being the PowerShot D10 released 3 years ago. Nikon Coolpix P510
So much for Olympus holding the ‘biggest zoom’ record for the last couple of years. For the record, the nearest SLR lens that does that, the Canon EF 1200 mm costs the price of a small […]
