Panasonic Lumix TS4 (also known as Lumix FT4)

The higher end of the two rugged cameras Panasonic released today is the Lumix TS4 (also known as the Lumix FT4 in some places). Unlike its more basic sibling the Lumix TS20, the Lumix TS4 here packs in slightly more zoom, a much more rugged body, built-in GPS, more powerful image stabilization, three components that make the details of precisely where your photos were taken (a compass, barometer and altimeter) and better movie mode.

  • Waterproof (12 meters/40 feet), shockproof (2 meters/6.6 feet) freezeproof (-10C/14F) and dustproof
  • 4.6X optical zoom: 28 – 128 mm (f3.3 – f5.9) lens

  • 2.7 inch LCD (230,000 pixels)
  • Intelligent Auto with scene modes
    Some manual controls and interval shooting option
  • In-camera Panorama Shot mode and shooting effects
  • Built-in GPS with maps and landmark naming, compass, barometer and altimeter (for altitude and depth)
  • Full HD 1080p 60i movie mode with mono sound, optical zoom and LED
  • Takes SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards
  • Uses a lithium-ion battery
  • Available in March for $400
