Panasonic has just announced a new compact Micro Four Thirds camera that supports interchangeable lenses. The new Panasonic Lumix GF5 succeeds the Lumix GF3 we recently reviewed and looks almost identical on the outside.

The Panasonic Lumix GF5 has several ‘under the skin’ changes which include:

  • New 12 megapixel LiveMOS image sensor with ISO up to 12,800
  • Improved autofocus performance and focusing area
  • 3 inch touchscreen, now with higher resolution of 922,000 dots
  • Redesigned user interface is now fully optimized for touch and more intuitive

The Panasonic Lumix GF5 will be available in black, white or red (though we’re sure a limited edition pink Lumix GF5 will appear sooner or later, just like what happened to the Lumix GF3) later this year, priced at $600 with the regular Lumix 14 - 42 mm kit lens, or $750 with the more compact Lumix 14 - 42 mm Power Zoom lens.
