Interesting stuff from Panasonic

Panasonic has added three new cameras to their Lumix range today, the first of which is the LX3 with a fast super-wide angle lens, and all of them feature a new imaging processor.

More Kodak cameras

Kodak announced two new cameras today: the Z1015 IS and M1093 IS. Both feature 10 megapixels and optical image stabilization, except one is an ultra-zoom camera while the other is a compact 3X zoom camera.

Nikon's new full-frame D-SLR

Nikon released a new SLR today, the full-frame D700. Basically, it can be summarized as a D300-sized camera with the flagship Nikon D3's top features.


Nikon D700

  • 12.1 effective megapixels (CMOS sensor)
  • Nikon F lens mount (FX-format full-frame)
    DX-format lenses can be used, subjected to a 1.5X crop factor of course
  • Dust removal
  • 3 inch super-high resolution LCD
  • 95% coverage viewfinder with 0.72X magnification
  • Full manual controls with RAW mode and hotshoe
  • Built-in flash with wireless flash control
  • ISO 200 - 6400 (native), ISO 100 - 25600 with expansion
  • 51-point AF with 3D tracking
  • Live view
  • 5 FPS burst mode; up to 8 FPS using the optional battery grip
  • Mini HDMI port
  • Single CF card (Type I and II) slot; UMDA supported
  • Uses a lithium-ion battery
  • Available in July for $3000 (Body only)

Nikon also announced a new external flash unit - the top of the line SB-900 external flash. The new SB-900 covers a range of 17 - 200 mm on an FX-format camera, has a faster recycle time compared to previous flashes and improved AF-assist system, auto detects white balance filters and features a revamped interface. It will be available in August for $500.
