Two more Sony Alpha SLRs

Today Sony announced two more entry-level digital SLRs, this time with live view.


Sony Alpha 300/Alpha 350

  • 10.2 effective megapixels (CCD sensor) [14.2 megapixels for A350]
  • Sony Alpha/Minolta lens mount (1.5x crop factor)
  • CCD-shift image stabilization
  • Anti-dust and dust removal
  • Live view with contrast detect AF
  • 2.7 inch tilting LCD
  • Optical viewfinder with 95% frame coverage; 0.74X magnification
  • Maximum ISO 3200
  • Full manual controls with RAW mode and hotshoe
  • Shoots at 3 FPS (2.5 FPS for A350) till the memory card is full (JPEG) or 6 RAW
  • Takes CF cards (Type I and II)
  • Uses NP-FM500H lithium-ion battery; takes up to 730 shots (CIPA Standard)
  • Sony Alpha 300 available in April for $800 (with 18-70 kit lens)

Three manufacturers came out with a bunch of new cameras today. Let's start off with Samsung who released their GX20 digital SLR, which is essentially a clone of yesterday's Pentax K20D. And then we have Canon and Fujifilm...

Today, Sony released the successor to their Alpha 100 entry-level digital SLR that was announced some 18 months ago in June 2006.
