No conspiracy theory is needed. A mundane explanation suffices. That number 65535 is simply 1111 1111 1111 1111 in binary. It’s the highest number available using 16 bit integers.

The highest unsigned integer you mean. Otherwise it would be 0111 1111 1111 1111 for a signed integer (I’m a software engineer).
Tremeda I have a doubt, this camera is the replacement for the EOS 1Ds Mark III or EOS-1D Mark III, habemos many confused with this, O is actually the flagship of Canon.
