Touchscreen ultra-wideangle Panasonic

Panasonic just announced their first ever touchscreen camera today along with a very nice lens (of course physical buttons are still here).

Canon announced three new compact cameras which replace last year's models.

Canon PowerShot SD770 IS Digital ELPH

New Casio compact

It sure isn't anything groundbreaking, in fact it's just your typical compact camera but nevertheless, here's the latest compact camera from Casio.

Olympus E420, smallest digital SLR yet

Olympus released their E420, the world's smallest digital SLR so far. Weighing just 380 grams and measuring 5.1 x 3.6 x 2.1 inches, here it is:

  • 10.0 effective megapixels (LiveMOS sensor)
  • Four Thirds system lens mount (2x crop factor)
  • SuperSonic Wave Filter dust removal
  • 2.7 inch HyperCrystal II LCD
  • Full manual controls with RAW mode and hotshoe
  • Shadow Adjustment Technology, wireless flash control and face detection (detects up to 8 faces, only in live view mode)
  • Live view; has 3 autofocus options: contrast detect AF (no mirror flipping), normal AF and a hybrid mode, which is a mix of contrast and normal AF
  • Improved auto white balance
  • Shoots at 3.5 FPS up till 8 RAW or unlimited JPEG photos
  • Dual memory card slots: CF card (Type I and II) and xD-Picture card
  • Uses BLS-1 lithium-ion battery; takes up to 500 shots (CIPA Standard, live view turned off)
  • Available in May for $500 (body only), $600 (with 14-42 mm kit lens) or $700 (with 25 mm f2.8 'pancake' lens)

Olympus also released their new 25mm f2.8 pancake lens; the term pancake because the lens is really thin for a SLR lens (less than an inch thick). Its focal length is equivalent to 50mm on FourThirds cameras and will be available for separate purchase.
