Fujifilm has just announced a very exciting new camera (Well, thanks to some folks who broke their NDA’s by leaking stuff on the net, the surprise has been spoiled slightly…), a new entrant into the compact prosumer camera market: their new FinePix X10. The FinePix X10 is a rangefinder style camera with a fixed lens and CMOS sensor, along with a bunch of manual controls which are bound to delight those looking for a travel/compact supplement to their existing digital SLR gear. Of course, the camera is rather compact (but not exactly pocketable) and has a solid feature set that will court regular users too. Check out all the details here:

  • Aluminum alloy body; magnesium allow top and bottom plates
    Fujifilm is also proud to tout the FinePix X10 as ‘made in Japan’ (they’ve even imprinted it on the back of the camera!)
  • 12 megapixel 2/3 inch sized CMOS sensor
  • 28 – 112 mm f2.0 – f2.8 4X optical zoom lens
    Manual zoom ring; on/off switch is connected to the lens barrel
    Optical image stabilization
  • 2.8 inch LCD (460,000 pixels) and optical viewfinder (85% coverage; separate from the lens)
  • ISO range of 100 to 12800
  • 7 FPS full-resolution burst mode; can be boosted to 10 FPS with lower resolution
  • Full manual controls with built-in popup flash, flash hotshoe and RAW image mode
  • Motion Panorama automatically captures a panoramic image (up to 360 degrees) as you pan the camera
  • 1080p Standard HD (1920 x 1080) 30 FPS movie mode with stereo sound
  • Takes SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards
  • Uses a lithium-ion battery
  • Available in November; price to be announced
