Samsung released four new cameras today. Why oh why must manufacturers come up with different names in different regions for the same camera? What exactly is the point?! Anyway, here they are:

Samsung SL820 aka IT100
(Mid-zoom compact)
- 12 effective megapixels
- 28 – 140 mm (f3.4 – f5.8) 5X optical zoom lens
- Optical image stabilization
- 3 inch LCD
- Smart Auto mode and Smart Album photo search
- No manual controls
- 720p 30 FPS movie mode with sound
- Takes SD/SDHC memory cards
- Uses a lithium-ion battery
- Available in May for $280

Samsung SL620 aka PL65
(Mid-zoom compact)
- 12 effective megapixels
- 35 – 175 mm (f3.5 – f5.5) 5X optical zoom lens
- Optical image stabilization
- 3 inch LCD
- Smart Auto mode and Smart Album photo search
- No manual controls
- VGA 30 FPS movie mode with sound
- Takes SD/SDHC memory cards
- Uses a lithium-ion battery
- Available in March for $200
- Comes in your choice of silver or black

(Entry-level compact)

Fujifilm released five more digital cameras today, adding to the cameras they initially announced earlier this month.

- Available in March for $250

Fujifilm FinePix Z30 (Stylish ultra-compact)
- 10 effective megapixels
- 35 – 105 mm (f3.7 – f4.2) 3X optical zoom lens
- 2.7 inch LCD
- Automatic scene selection
- No manual controls
- VGA 30 FPS movie mode with sound
- Takes SD/SDHC memory cards
